Born in London and raised in an Armed Forces family, I spent my early years following my stepfather's Royal Artillery postings before settling in Woolwich – the home of the Royal Artillery and where my lifelong love affair with Charlton Athletic began. (Yes, Charlton, not Arsenal!).

My working life started at London's Old Bailey, where I discovered a talent for balancing books, solving puzzles, and making numbers behave themselves. I spent many happy years in accounting and never lost my love for a good reconciliation.
In 1980, my family and I swapped London for the then-young city of Milton Keynes. Most people thought I'd never settle outside the capital, but more than 40 years later I'm still here and very glad we made the move.
Retirement has given us the chance to explore the world, from the streets of Havana to the
wonders of China, and even fulfil a lifelong dream of going on safari. Not bad for a London girl who was once told she'd never get a Civil Service job because of a previous spinal operation!
These days, my adventures are a little closer to home. I love supporting my local RSPCA branch, helping wherever I can, and sharing my home with a collection of rescued cats who are firmly convinced they're the ones in charge.
