Emma Hargreaves

Trustee

I have recently become a first-time mum and love my gorgeous baby boy.

I have a level 3 Diploma in Animal Welfare and have worked as an animal care teacher in an SEN school. Working as an office manager at the moment but hoping to get back into my animal care career one day when the cost of living will allow me to do so!

I have been involved in animal rescue for 12 years, starting at the RSPCA when I was just 17 years old. I've done a variety of volunteer roles including fostering, cat trapping, social media, events, education, trustee.. the list goes on.

I became a Trustee for the branch a few months ago, and I will be stepping into the role of Social Media & Education coordinator, something I am incredibly passionate about. As we continue to see an increase in let-down, abandoned and neglected animals. It is imperative, now more than ever, to use our knowledge to educate the public and the next generation of potential pet owners to come. I want to use my position, working alongside fellow animal welfare passionate volunteers, to provide as much education as we can via the branch. Not only on social media, but by providing workshops in schools, welfare pop ups in difficult areas around MK, working with other local branches to really try and combat these ever-growing issues. I am committed to building a better world for animals and their welfare.

I am also passionate about improving the reputation within the RSPCA, as unfortunately by default the local branches tend to get a bad rap from the public who view the RSPCA very negatively. I think it's incredibly important to combat this and highlight that we are a charity for the animals, a charity you can trust. The incredible work I see daily within the branch showcases this, and I want the public to know the full extent of this fantastic work that goes on behind the scenes to help the animals of MK and North Bucks. Including working with the brilliant social media team and building our media platform to engage as many people from as many age demographics as we can to further help promote the charity.

I am incredibly proud to be part of a team of people who really do put animal welfare at the forefront of everything they do. We are blessed with fantastic volunteers and staff, thank you to you all. I am so excited to be a part of the new future to come here at the branch.
