Small Animals

If you would like to offer a home to any of our small animals, please ensure you meet our minimum requirements below before completing an adoption form.

Please be aware we carry out a home check before animals leave our care. This may be conducted through a visit to your home or by photographs of your set up, or through a video home visit.

Rabbits

All our adult rabbits are neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. We request a minimum donation of £50 for each rabbit, which goes towards our costs. Rabbits are social creatures and will be rehomed in pairs or groups, or to be bonded with a single lonely partner (must be neutered).

Rabbits need much more than a hutch and a run. Your new rabbits will need enrichment and stimulation, with an environment where they can display natural behaviours. Rabbits must have constant access to a minimum floor area of 3 metres by 2 metres and a height of 1 metre. Outdoor housing must be predator proof. These guidelines are the minimum space you are expected to provide. The more space your rabbits have, the happier and healthier they will be.

Guinea Pigs

Some of our adult male guinea pigs are neutered. We request a minimum donation of £25 for each guinea pig, which goes towards our costs. Guinea Pigs are social creatures and will be rehomed in pairs or groups, or to be bonded with a single lonely partner (female pairs or mixed pairs where males must be neutered).

Guinea Pigs must have constant access to a minimum cage area of 150cm by 60cm with an attached run. For indoor housing we recommend https://candcguineapigcages.co.uk/ enclosures or similar modular systems. Any outdoor housing and run must be predator proof.

Your new guinea pigs will need enrichment and stimulation, with an environment where they can display natural behaviours. We recommend tunnels, houses and other hidey places to help them feel safe and secure.
