Day two of Rabbit Awareness Week!

June 18, 2017

Yesterday we told you about the importance of Hay and that it should be fed as the main part of your rabbits diet. We also recommend that your rabbits have an adult-sized handful of safe washed leafy green vegetables, herbs and weeds daily. Here is a great guide on safe vegetables to feed http://rabbitwelfare.co.uk/ra…/recommended-vegetables-herbs/

You will notice that lettuce is not on the list! Contrary to popular belief lettuce is not good for rabbits when fed in large quantities and in fact some are harmful. The darker leafed lettuce such as romaine lettuce can be fed in small quantities as it is higher in fibre

compared to the light-coloured varieties which are high in water and contain little nutritional value.
