Fosterers Needed!

Updated: Sep 22, 2020

Do you love animals? RSPCA Milton Keynes and North Bucks have vacancies for short term Fosterers.

Every year the branch rescues hundreds of animals. Not all these animals can be re-homed straight away and our branch is not lucky enough to have a re-homing centre so we rely on the animal loving public to temporarily provide foster homes.

We are currently looking for more volunteer cat and kitten fosterers.

The role would involve providing care and suitable housing in a safe environment for the animals. Care includes providing the essentials such as food and water, and in some instances medical treatments and grooming. You will also need to be able to travel to the nearest approved veterinary surgery in order to continue their veterinary care.

We will supply the equipment, food and cover the veterinary treatment costs for the duration of their stay. Full guidance and advice is provided and you will be invited to join our fostering and volunteering support group.

Why Foster?

Animal fostering is an important role. It helps to play a vital part in the rehabilitation of animals and helps improve their chance of finding a new home.

Many animals that we take in have either suffered or are not used to the care and affection that they deserved. Living with a foster family helps to provide them with one-to-one care. Allowing them to build up their confidence and get used to a normal lifestyle.

You must have previous experience of caring for cats and preferably a spare room to keep the cats and kittens. You must be able to drive to a local, approved veterinary surgery. If you have existing animals they must be spayed or neutered and fully vaccinated unless there are medical reasons why they can’t be.

The rewards

Fostering animals can be a pleasurable experience. It's rewarding to know that you played a key part in the rehoming process when a foster animal is successfully rehomed. You'll have the opportunity to meet new people and of course get lots of cat cuddles!
