The Milton Keynes & North Bucks RSPCA is holding its 8th Valentine’s speed dating weekend on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 February to help you find your perfect pet partner.
The event promises a fun way to meet the four-legged love of your life. Volunteers will be hosting special ‘speed dates’ with the centre’s cats and to add to the ambience there will be romantic music, and some subdued lighting!
Examples of the feline lonely hearts looking for loving homes include:
White and black male, one year old, affectionate and playful. WLTM a family who can help build his confidence.
Ginger and white male, five years old, slightly overweight but with own teeth, outgoing. WLTM a family with other cats for fun and frolics.
Black male, three years old, stray, used to living alone. WLTM a single person or couple who enjoy quiet nights in by the fire.
Tabby female, two years old, petite, a little shy and nervous. WLTM a happy family to help bring her out of her shell.
For the first time you are also being given the opportunity to ‘speed date’ rabbits. There will not be any music or subdued lighting but you will get a warm welcome!
Bookings for the dating sessions must be made with the centre, and would-be animal adopters should also be prepared for a home visit from the charity.
To help cover running costs, all those who do ‘fall in love’ at the speed dating sessions will be asked to donate a minimum of £55 for each cat and £30 for a rabbit.
All adult cats at the RSPCA are neutered, micro-chipped (to help with identification if lost) and are treated for fleas and worms. They will also have had at least their first vaccinations (for flu/enteritis/leukaemia).
All adult rabbits are neutered and a small donation of £30 for each rabbit goes towards this cost. Rabbits are social animals and are best kept in pairs. The cost for adopting a pair is £50.
Vivienne Dalton, RSPCA Cattery Co-ordinator, said: “We all know that pets can provide truly special relationships – so what better event than Valentine’s for some of our loving, beautiful but homeless cats to find their perfect owners?
“We work hard all year round to care for and re-home animals in the local area and we hope that this novel approach will result in many of our cats going to warm, loving homes.”
